MIFCO Expands Regional Presence with Launch of Fasmeeru in Sri Lanka

The Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company Limited (MIFCO) has expanded its regional footprint with the official launch of its premium tuna brand, Fasmeeru, in Sri Lanka through an exclusive distribution partnership with Development Interplan Ceylon Pvt. Ltd. (DICL).

The launch event, held today in Colombo, was attended by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, along with senior government officials from both the Maldives and Sri Lanka, representatives of the diplomatic community, and industry stakeholders. The event underscored the strengthening economic and trade relations between the two countries.

MIFCO Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Mohamed Anas described the launch as a key milestone in the company’s international expansion strategy. He highlighted MIFCO’s continued focus on sustainability and the delivery of high-quality seafood products to regional and global markets.

He further noted that the introduction of Fasmeeru in Sri Lanka reflects MIFCO’s broader objective of expanding export markets while promoting responsibly sourced seafood from the Maldives.

Under the agreement, DICL will serve as the exclusive distributor of Fasmeeru in Sri Lanka, with initial focus on the HORECA sector, followed by expansion into retail and wholesale channels through its distribution network.

The collaboration aligns with shared priorities between the Maldives and Sri Lanka, including strengthening food security, enhancing trade cooperation, and supporting sustainable economic development.

The event featured the official unveiling of the Fasmeeru product range, followed by a culinary presentation showcasing the quality and versatility of its offerings.

MIFCO remains committed to sustainable fisheries management and the continued expansion of its value-added seafood products into international markets.
