The Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO) has expanded its retail operations by introducing Friday opening hours and extending business hours across its retail fish outlets, reinforcing the company’s commitment to providing greater convenience and improved access to fresh seafood for customers.
Effective 1 August 2026, all MIFCO retail outlets in Male’, Hulhumale’, and Addu City will operate under a revised schedule designed to better serve customer demand throughout the week.
New Operating Hours
Fridays
- 8:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.
- 8:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.
Saturday to Thursday
- 8:30 a.m. – 11:00 p.m.
- Stores will close only during prayer times.
The decision reflects MIFCO’s continued efforts to enhance customer experience and improve accessibility to fresh, high-quality fish and seafood products. Fridays are traditionally an important day for family gatherings and special meals in the Maldives, and the new operating schedule enables customers to conveniently purchase fresh seafood for these occasions.
As part of this initiative, MIFCO also plans to introduce a range of special seafood products every Friday, offering customers greater variety while promoting the consumption of locally processed seafood.
The extended operating hours are expected to particularly benefit customers who are unable to visit retail outlets during regular working hours, providing greater flexibility to purchase fish and other MIFCO products during evenings and weekends.
This service enhancement has been made possible through MIFCO’s ongoing investments in strengthening its production and supply capabilities. The recent resumption of operations at Kan’duoiygiri, together with the commissioning of a dried fish processing facility and a new ice plant, has significantly increased the company’s production capacity and improved its ability to maintain a consistent supply of fresh and value-added seafood products to the Greater Male’ region.
