Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company Limited (MIFCO) has opened a new fish outlet (Masfihaara) in Hulhumalé Phase 2, further expanding its retail network and improving access to MIFCO products for customers in the area.
The new outlet, located on the ground floor of Tower 2 of Vinares Flats in Hulhumalé Phase 2, was officially opened by MIFCO Chairman Abdulla Faiz at a ceremony held this evening.
The ceremony was attended by MIFCO Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mohamed Anas, Member of Parliament for Hulhumalé Central Constituency Abdulla Shazeem, and senior MIFCO officials.
The newly opened outlet is MIFCO’s second outlet in Hulhumalé Phase 2 and its sixth nationwide. MIFCO currently operates fish outlets at Hiyaa Tower 2 in Hulhumalé Phase 2, and near Hulhumalé Hospital in Phase 1. In Malé, the company operates outlets on Hilaalee Magu and at the North Harbour.
Earlier this year, MIFCO also opened a fish outlet in Hithadhoo, Addu City, marking the company’s first outlet outside the Malé area.
Speaking to the media following the opening, MIFCO Managing Director and CEO Mohamed Anas said that expanding the company’s retail presence remains an important part of MIFCO’s efforts to meet customer needs.
He said the opening of the new Vinares outlet would provide residents with greater and more convenient access to MIFCO products at affordable prices.
“We place significant importance on expanding our business to meet the needs of our customers. Through the expansion of our outlets, we aim to make MIFCO products more accessible to communities across the country,” CEO Anas said.
He added that MIFCO has decided to establish outlets in cities across the Maldives as part of its efforts to expand the company’s business and ensure that MIFCO products remain consistently available to the public.
CEO Anas also highlighted recent developments in MIFCO’s production and distribution capacity. In July, the company opened a dried-fish factory in Kan’duoiygiri, which has helped address logistical challenges associated with supplying MIFCO products to different parts of the country.
The new Vinares outlet will offer MIFCO’s full range of products. From 1 August 2026, MIFCO’s outlets are scheduled to operate seven days a week, with the Vinares outlet also providing services on Fridays.
As part of its Friday Special initiative, MIFCO features a special product every Friday, providing customers with a different offering each week. The initiative has been well received by customers.
The continued expansion of MIFCO’s outlet network forms part of the company’s broader objective of increasing production, ensuring the continuous availability of high-quality fisheries products, and improving access to these products for communities across the Maldives.
MIFCO also remains committed to supporting the development of the fisheries sector and increasing the benefits to Maldivian fishermen, in line with national fisheries development priorities.
