MIFCO Recognizes Employees for Their Role in Ramadan Canned Tuna Initiative

The Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO) has recognized employees who contributed to the production and distribution of canned tuna provided by the government as Ramadan gifts.

This year, the government decided to provide a case of canned tuna to every household. As in previous year, MIFCO carried out the production, completing a total of 118,977 canned tuna cases for the initiative.

In addition to production, MIFCO staff actively supported the distribution process in accordance with government instructions. One of the key distribution centers in the Malé area is the MIFCO Head Office, where employees have been working nightly to ensure smooth delivery to residents.

To honor their contributions, MIFCO awarded certificates of recognition to the staff involved. The certificates were presented during a special ceremony at the MIFCO Head Office to welcome the month of Ramadan. CEO Brigadier General (Retd.) Farhath Shaheer handed over the certificates, which were received on behalf of the staff by General Manager of Operations, Hamid Nazeem Ibrahim.

The ceremony also featured a religious awareness session conducted by Sheikh Haleem, followed by a special prayer to mark the beginning of Ramadan.

In addition, the event included the launch of MIFCO’s new website and corporate t-shirt, and to foster staff camaraderie, a lucky draw was held where winners received kitchen appliances, along with a gift exchange program.

Through this event, MIFCO celebrated the dedication and teamwork of its employees while promoting engagement, transparency, and a sense of community among staff during the holy month.
