New CEO Sets Reform-Driven Direction for MIFCO’s Future Development

The Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of the Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company Limited (MIFCO), Mohamed Anas, has stated that significant reforms are required to modernize the company’s operations and enhance its long-term sustainability.

The CEO made these remarks during his ongoing visit to MIFCO operational centers, including the Kooddoo Fisheries Complex, where he met with employees and held discussions on operational challenges and development priorities.

Speaking to staff, the CEO emphasized that the vision for MIFCO is to implement comprehensive reform-based changes that will transition the company into a more efficient and modern state-owned enterprise. He noted that, as a 100% government-owned company with longstanding operational structures, MIFCO must evolve to meet current industry demands and future opportunities.

He further highlighted that improving employee remuneration remains a key priority; however, this will depend on the company’s ability to increase revenue and strengthen its financial position. In this regard, he underscored the importance of identifying new income streams beyond traditional fish export operations.

“We must look beyond fish export alone and explore additional avenues for generating revenue. Management is actively working to diversify operations, identify new markets, and enhance the value addition of our products,” the CEO stated.

The CEO assured employees that the ongoing reform efforts are expected to yield positive outcomes for the company and its workforce. He also called on all staff to uphold strong work ethics and foster teamwork to support the organization’s transformation process.

During his visit, the CEO also engaged directly with employees at various operational levels to better understand their concerns and operational challenges. He reaffirmed management’s commitment to addressing staff feedback and improving working conditions across all MIFCO facilities.

Since assuming office, the CEO has been conducting a series of visits to MIFCO’s regional centers across the Maldives, engaging with staff and reviewing operational performance as part of broader efforts to strengthen organizational efficiency and service delivery.
