In collaboration with Parley Maldives, MIFCO also plays due role to reduce reliance on single-use plastics, intercept sources of plastic waste, and prevent it from entering the oceans or being disposed of in destructive ways. As part of the program, Fishing vessels are assigned with Jumbo bags to collect disposable plastic waste during the trips. Once returning from fishing trips plastic waste is collected to fish landing sites and sent off to central collection for recycling
