Non-Executive / Independent Director, Acting Chairman
Shimaz was appointed as a Non-Executive Director to the Board of Directors of MIFCO on 7th December 2023. He holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Information Technology from Limkokwing University, Malaysia, along with an AAT Certificate in Accounting from the Informatics Training Centre. He began his career at MIFCO in the Accounts Department, gaining early exposure to the company’s finance and operational functions. In 2003, he joined the State Trading Organization (STO), where he has since built a strong professional background in information technology. Throughout his tenure, he has contributed to key IT improvements and system upgrades within the organisation. Currently serving as the IT Manager at STO Plc, he brings valuable expertise in both IT and financial processes, supporting MIFCO’s strategic direction as a member of the Board.

Executive Director, Chief Executive Officer
Farhath Shaheer was appointed to the Board of Directors of MIFCO as an Executive Director on 5th March 2025. He holds a master’s degree in military art and science from the Command and Staff College in Indonesia, reflecting a strong foundation in strategic leadership and operational planning. Farhath began his career with the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF), where he served with distinction for 26 years in various leadership and operational roles, retired as Vice Chief of Defence Force, gaining extensive experience in organisational management and disciplined service. Following his military career, he transitioned into public sector leadership, serving as the Chief Executive Officer of IGMH from 2014 to 2018, where he oversaw strategic improvements in healthcare administration and service delivery. Farhath currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of MIFCO, leading the company’s strategic direction, operational performance, and long-term business development initiatives. His diverse leadership background, combined with strong experience in governance and institutional management, continues to contribute significantly to the company’s growth and transformation.

Non-Executive, Independent Director
Shazna Mohamed was appointed as a Non-Executive Director to the Board of Directors of the Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company Ltd (MIFCO) on April 19, 2024. Her academic credentials include a distinguished Master of Education, which underpins her leadership and management experience. Shazna initiated her career in the field of education in 2005, establishing a long track record in professional development, training, and institutional administration. Leveraging this experience, she is currently the owner of High Achievers Academy, a position that highlights her entrepreneurial skills and dedication to fostering quality education. Her deep expertise in organizational development, personnel management, and strategic planning from the education sector will provide valuable, diverse oversight to MIFCO’s corporate governance and human capital strategies.

Non-Executive, Independent Director
Salah Shareef was appointed to the Board of Directors of MIFCO as a Non-Executive Director on December 12, 2023. His academic foundation is a bachelor’s degree in commerce from the University of Mysore, India. Salah possesses extensive institutional knowledge, having begun his career at MIFCO in 2004 as a Senior Officer in the Human Resources Department at the Kooddoo Fisheries Complex. Over his tenure, he progressed through various critical roles, including Head of the Human Resources Department at Kooddoo Fisheries Maldives and Human Resources and Administration Manager at the MIFCO Head Office. He also gained valuable operational experience as the Operations and Logistics Manager. This long history within the company provides him with a deep understanding of MIFCO’s day-to-day functions and challenges. He currently holds the position of Managing Director of Atoll Getaways Pvt. Ltd., showcasing his leadership and business acumen outside of the public sector.

Non-Executive, Independent Director
Zuleikha Yoomee Rasheed was appointed as a Non-Executive Director to the Board of Directors of the Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company Ltd (MIFCO) on April 19, 2024. Yoomee currently serves as a Planner at the Ministry of Finance and Planning, a role that gives her a vital perspective on national development and fiscal strategy. She brings an extensive background of over 15 years in urban development, having played a pivotal role in shaping major projects across the Maldives. Her experience is broad, covering some of the country’s most significant urban development initiatives, including land use planning, master planning, infrastructure development, and regional development projects. This comprehensive expertise will be crucial in guiding MIFCO’s long-term strategy and strengthening its corporate governance structure, ensuring alignment with national economic goals.

Non-Executive, Independent Director
Reesham Mohamed Shareef was appointed as a Non-Executive Director to the Board of Directors of MIFCO on 9th October 2025. He serves as the fishermen’s representative on the MIFCO Board, providing valuable insight and perspective from the grassroots level of the industry. With over 22 years of hands-on experience in the fisheries sector, Reesham brings a wealth of practical knowledge in fishing operations, vessel management, and sustainable fishing practices. Throughout his career, he has been actively engaged in the day-to-day realities of the fishing community, advocating for the welfare and development of fishermen across the Maldives. His extensive background equips him with a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities within the sector. Reesham currently serves as the Captain of Asdhaan Dhoani, where he continues to demonstrate strong leadership, technical skill, and commitment to the responsible harvesting of marine resources.
