CEO of MIFCO, met with the Fishermen and addressed the concerns raised by Fishermen during the Fisheries Forum organized by Ministry of Fisheries, Marine Resources and Agriculture on the occasion of this year’s Fishermen’s Day. 

During the two forum important presentations were given to the fishermen followed by discussions. Minister Zaha Waheed and CEO Ismail Fauzy reassured the fishermen that industry developments are underway. These include upgrading works at Felivaru to store and process more tuna on a daily basis and bringing KOG back to operation that will resolve the concerns of Handline Yellowfin fishery.

Other relevant stakeholder such as Parley and Bank of Maldives also gave presentations in the event. Parley Maldives updated fishermen on plastic collection setup and progress, while BML presented the developments they have made on recently launched Masveriya Card.
