The Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO) has initiated discussions with Sri Lanka’s Colombo International Nautical and Engineering College (CINEC) to introduce new technical training opportunities for our employees.
The talks were held during a visit to Sri Lanka last week by MIFCO CEO Brigadier General (Rtd) Farhat Shaheer, who met with senior officials at CINEC’s main campus. The High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, Mr. Masood Imad, also participated in the meeting.
The discussions focused on developing a range of training programs tailored to MIFCO’s needs, including short-term courses, long-term academic pathways, and hands-on practical training.
Highlighting the importance of this initiative, the CEO noted that many of the individuals currently serving in senior management and engineering positions at the company were trained more than 25 years ago.
“The company now aims to revive and strengthen such training programs to build a new generation of skilled, technically competent professionals to support company’s future growth”, Said the CEO.
CINEC is recognized as one of Sri Lanka’s leading institutions offering education and training in marine, engineering and related technical fields. MIFCO’s collaboration with CINEC marks significant steps toward advancing the technical expertise and professional development of the company’s workforce.
