The Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of the Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company Limited (MIFCO), Mohamed Anas, has met with fishermen in Thinadhoo City, Huvadhu Atoll South (Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll).

The meeting took place during the CEO’s ongoing visit to MIFCO operational centers across different regions of the Maldives, following his assumption of office. As part of the visit, he traveled to Thinadhoo to assess the condition of MIFCO facilities established in the area.

The CEO met with fishermen at the Thinadhoo fishermen’s jetty area and the fishermen’s rest area, where he discussed the challenges and concerns faced by local fishermen. He also held consultations on ways to further strengthen the services provided to fishermen by MIFCO.

During the discussions, the CEO listened to concerns raised by individual fishermen and assured that efforts would be made to find solutions to the issues highlighted.

During his visit to Huvadhu Atoll South (Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll), CEO Mohamed Anas met with fishermen in Thinadhoo as part of broader efforts to strengthen engagement with fishing communities across the Maldives and better understand their conditions and needs. This initiative is aimed at enhancing MIFCO’s services and operations.

The CEO also inspected the ongoing development of the Thinadhoo Fisheries Complex project, which is being established for the purchase, chilling, and storage of fish in Thinadhoo. Once completed, the facility is expected to significantly ease challenges faced by fishermen in Huvadhu Atoll, particularly those in the southern part of the atoll.
