The Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO) held a strategic meeting today with the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) at its Tokyo headquarters as part of an official visit aimed at expanding business opportunities and strengthening the presence of Maldivian fisheries products in the Japanese market.
The discussions focused on trade promotion, technical collaboration, and initiatives to increase visibility among Japanese consumers and industry stakeholders.
MIFCO was represented by Athif Shakoor, Strategic Consultant, and Aminath Saniyya Shareef, General Manager of Corporate Affairs. The meeting was also attended by Ahmed Adil, Deputy Ambassador and Chargé d’Affaires, and Khadheeja Samha, Second Secretary, from the Embassy of the Maldives in Japan.

This engagement reflects MIFCO’s ongoing efforts to elevate the international profile of the Maldives’ fisheries sector and expand export opportunities in key global markets. Through strengthened partnerships with organizations such as JETRO, MIFCO aims to further promote Maldivian fisheries products and support the sustainable growth of the nation’s fisheries industry in international markets.
