The Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO) has officially inaugurated its new fish processing facility in Fuvahmulah City, marking a significant step in strengthening national seafood infrastructure and creating new economic opportunities for local fishermen.
The opening ceremony was led by Mohamed Muththalib, Minister of State for Fisheries and Ocean Resources, and attended by MIFCO Chief Executive Officer Farhath Shaheer, Member of Parliament for Fuvahmulah South Ibrahim Hussain, Mayor of Fuvahmulah City Ismail Rafeeq, and members of the local fishing community. The event highlighted the national significance of the project as well as its direct benefits to the local economy.
The facility has been certified by the Maldives Food and Drug Authority (MFDA) for meeting the highest health and safety standards. The plant will enable the safe and hygienic packaging of fish, ensure consistent product quality, and help fishermen maximize returns from their catch.
